Who loves color? Who loves changing it up without going to the absolute EXTREME?! This blog post is going to be for my dark hair'd beauties who want to spice up their dark long locks.
Ive always had dark hair. In my personal opinon, i dont look good with light hair. I have such dark features & i wear such dark makeup, that having too much light in my hair makes me look "fake". SO, ive always loved color and changing the ones of my hair without going to the extreme of coloring my hair neon colors LOL. Doing this, i use DIRECT DYES. Direct dyes are semi perminent hair color that do not last forever, they last between 2-3 weeks on average. Ive tried many direct dyes out there, and i find that some dont even do anything, and others are like house paint. They never come out. BUT....Ive found a color line of semi perminent direct dyes that have beautiful color and that leaves beautiful color. The colors that I used was Pure Purple & Pastel Purple from the line ArganOil Perfect Intensity. The purpose of a direct dye is to just leave a stain under the cuticle of the hair. It does not penetrate the cortex of the hair because it dosnt require a developer or an activator. Id call this a "Color Glaze" which pretty mych leaves a hue of the color over the beautiful dark hair, without being so over noticable that you have "purple hair" or "red hair" or any other color. These colors are so beautifully pigmented, and they actually smell really nice. I mixed Pure Purple & Pastel Purple because i wanted a more cool tone to my glaze. The Pure Purple is a little more on the pink side of the purple family, and the Pastel Purple is a cooler lighter pigment, but the two of them together is exactly what i was looking for. So let me get into exactly how to do this the right way, so you can have beautiful hues to your hair too! XOXO
Steps:
1) Grab your favorite colors from ArganOil Perfect Intensity Hair color line (mine were Pure Purple & Pastel Purple)
2)You'll need a mixing bowl, a tint brush, a hair clip, a plastic cap (optional), and GLOVES...or you'll have very colorful hands as well
3)Start applying the color at the scalp where your part your hair and around your hair line
4)Make sure you cover all of your hair from roots to ends with the color, and dont be shy. SATURATE your hair with the color
5) wrap your color saturated hair up and clip it
6) put your plastic cap on (if you want to )
7) watch tv, read a book, cook a meal, do whatever for 30 MINUTES!!!
8)RINSE RINSE RINSE ALL THE COLOR OUT OF YOUR HAIR WITH ROOM TEMPERATURE WATER
9)give your head a light shampoo & conditioner
10)towel dry your hair, and then blow dry & style
THATS IT!!! Your hair will still be beautiful and dark, just with a little pop of color. Go out into the sunlight & take lots of pics!!! Or take lots of pics with THE FLASH ON!
